THE SOUND OF FASHION DJ

Tomorow SHOWstudio will offer more answers than you can shake a (rhythm) stick at, as SHOWstudio and Swarovski present Fashion DJs: a three-day event celebrating the fusion of music and fashion featuring a welter of fashion luminaries from Naomi Campbell to Stephen Jones, Bernhard WIlhelm, Gareth Pugh to Giles Deacon. From midday to midnight on the 9th, 10th and 11th July, each guest gets the chance to play DJ, decamping to the legendary Abbey Road Studios to spin a musical set of their own devising, accompanied by live music and art performances. Guaranteeing a visual as well as audio feast, Nick Knight will be filming proceedings, while the DJs and artists will perform on spectacular setpieces created by Gideon Ponte. Of course, all proceedings wil be broadcast live on SHOWstudio.com and via radio for London listeners on 87.7FM.

The Brothers Grimm

My inspiration at the moment is the The Brothers Grimm, Jacob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm Karl (1786–1859), who became famous as the authors of fairy tales. The Grimm brothers were also very important historians of medieval language and folklore.

The Grimm brothers published their first volume of fairy tales, Tales of Children and the Home, in 1812. They had received their stories from peasants and villagers. In their collaboration Jacob did more of the research, while Wilhelm, more fragile, put it into literary form and provided the childlike style. They were also interested in folklore and primitive literature. Between 1816 and 1818 they published two volumes of German legends and also a volume of early literary history.
